YOUNG MAN’S TRAGIC DEATH.
WHILE UNDER INFLUENCE OF LIQUOR.
The death of a young man named Richard John Harrison, aged 31, butcher, of Pahiatua, fol- | lowing a fall from, a tree subsequent to a dance at Woodville on June 10, was inquired into by Mr A. J. Graham, Coroner, at Palmerston North yesterday. ' The Coroner, in returning a verdict of accidental death while undbr the influence of liquor, said it was a sorry story of a young man while under the influence of liquor, .losing control of his mental faculties and for some unknown reason climbing into a tree from which he fell to suffer the injuries which had subsequently caused his death. Mr Graham added that it was easily understood that owing to deceased’s condition, the injuries could be overlooked by his friends. The evidence clearly established that Harrison was not the victim of foul play but rather was there a suspicion of suicide though there was nothing conclusive in that direction.
