CAR CRASHES DOWN BANK.
DRIVER’S MIRACULOUS ESCAPE.

A. miraculous escape was experienced on‘ Sunday morning by Walter Manning, a well-known stockbuyer, when returning to Marton from Turakina Valley in a cai\ On a narrow portion of the road he met another car and, in endeavouring to pass, went over the bank, crashing through the scrub fence one hundred feet below into the Makohau Stream and coming to rest upside down, % By a lucky chance the car’s progress was checked at the last moment and instead of entering the deep water side on, it straddled the bank out of water .sufficiently to allow Manning to escape thi-ough the window 1 .
He was assisted to the road hv the other motorist and brought to Marton suffering from shock and only minor injuries. The salvage of the car will present considerable difficulties.
