THE ELECTION CAMPAIGN.
MR J. K. HORNBLOW AT - IRANGIOTU.
Mr J. K. Hornblow, Independent candidate for Manawatu delivered what the chairman termed the most vigorous 1 address that a- Rangiotu audience had ever listened to in the hall on Tuesday evening. Mr E. Beard occupied , the chair and the attendance Vas considered the best to date. Mr Beard referred to the fact that Manawatu had five candidates to select from and expressed the opinion that after each had been heard he did not think the electors would have much difficulty in making their selection. Mr Hornblow had served the district well for many years and was well qualified to represent the district in Parliament.
|Mr Hornblow spoke chiefly on farming, humanitarian and district matters and received an attentive hearing throughout. At the conclusion lie was abided only one question: Did he favour a reduction in representation in Parliament? He replied in the affirmative.
Mr H. Wilton moved a hearty vote of thanks to the speaker which was carried by acclamation and brought a close to an enthusiastic meeting.
Last evening Mr Hornblow was in Shannon, where he addressed a good audience in the Parish Hall., Mr C. Gray occupied the chair and the speaker was given an uninterrupted hearing. His address was on similar lines to that given in other parts but he inaj.de special mention of the advisability of completing the road across the ranges linking up the two coasts. At the conclusion of his address Mr Hornblow was several questions after which a hearty vote of thanks was, accorded Mm on the motion of Mi- 'Sinclair. A similar compliment to the chair terminated the meeting.
