ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA FLIGHT.

According to advice received in Sydney, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith was to begin his flight from England to Australia to-day in his Lockheed Altair aeroplane with Mr Tom Pcthybridge as co-pilot.

It is believed that he will attempt to beat the centenary air race record of Messrs C. W. A. Scott and Campbell Black by arriving at Melbourne early next Tuesday.

DARWiIN TO ENGLAND.

Darwin, October 11. Mr H. F. Bi’oadbent, who hopes to fly to England in six days, left early this morning for Sourabaya. Pilots 0. Thomas and F. Maguire hopped off for Ivoepang on the first stage of a fight to England. Pilot Thomas is to undergo flying-boat training in London and Pilot Maguire intends to seek a commission in the Royal Air Force.
