MR FORBES’S EMPIRE DAY SPEECH.
London, May 25. Addressing a distinguished gathering of 1,000 guests at the Empire Day jubilee banquet in the vast underground hall of Grosvenor House, Mi- G. W. Forbes, Prime Minister of New Zealand, before extolling Britain’s heritage, said: “I am not attempting to sell butter or cheese to-night, nor to give figures. I don’t want to say what we have done, but to show appreciation of what you have done.” Sir James Parr and Mr and Mrs J. G. Coates were present.
