FOXTON FOOTBALL CLUB.

GOMMITTB MEETING. A committee meeting of the Foxton Football Club was held in Walls’ rooms last evening, presided over by the Pi-esident (Mr F. Robinson), Also present were Messrs A.,- G., and B. Walls, W. D. Neville, IV. Howe, W. Andresen, L. McAllister and the secretary (Miss. C. Robinson). A letter was received from the President of the Foxton Fire Brigade Football Club, apologising for writing to the Borough Council, re the state of Easton Park and pointing out that no reflection on .the Foxton Club had been intended, the letter being sent merely with the object of having the ground improved by the Council. 4 The President said that Mr Barber had realised his mistake in writing to the 'Council concerning the ground and had apologised ana the matter could be dropped. The letter was received.

The secretary of the Foxton Fire Brigade Football Club wrote advising, the club that the Fire Brigade Club had made application for the use of the floodlight on Easton Park for practice purposes to the Foxton Club’s late secretary at the beginning of the season, and iii an interview with Mr Madden he had admitted that such was the case and that the application had evidently never been before the club.

The President said that the matter had now been adjusted and the Fire . Brigade Club was - being allowed the use of the light; , The Foxton Fire Brigade Club wrote forwarding a copy of a protest forwarded, to the Horowhenua District Council re the playing by the Foxton Club of W. McGregor last Saturday in the Foxton-Fire Brigade junior match, McGregor, it was alleged, being a senior player. Mr Robinson said that when approached by McGregor for permission to play for the club he had oassti'oned him regarding his status and he had declared that he was a junior.' He admitted that he had played one senior game, when he was picked in a seven-a-side competition in the Te Kawau Union. ■Prior to that he had been at Porongahau, where lie said he had played junior football. The secretary had written Porongahau Club asking for McGregor’s clearance and this-, had been granted. Mr Robinson said he had then introduced McGregor to the club coach and McGregor had informed him that "he was a junior player. - Mr McAllister said that ther.e was only one grade at; Porongahau and that was'senior. j Mr A. Walls said that it was stated that McGregor had made application to play in the Fire Brigade team before he went to , the Foxton Glub and the former club had turned himl down on account pf the fact that he was a senior, ? Mr. Robinson: Well, we played him all in good faith. He told us he was a junior and we obtained his clearance from Porongahau and there was no mention in the letter we received to indicate that he was a senior. Mr MeAlliser said -that last -year several players returned ’to Koputaroa from Porongahau and one this season to Shannon and they qjl Jiad to be reinstated as junior's before they were allowed to play below the rank of senior.

It was decided that Messrs Robinson, G. Wjalls and W. D, Neville attend the Council.meeting in com nection with the protest and, if possible, to take McGregor with them.

The President stated that the chairman of the local District High School had mentioned to him that the primary department was in want of jerseys to equip its players and he had guaranteed that these would be obtained before the school re-opened. He thought that it was the duty of all rugby enthusiasts to support the school players’ as they were the footbollers of the future and he .hoped that the Club would.do all in its power to assist in raising funds for the purpose. He had taken it on himself to place an order for the jerseys.

Questioned as- to the financial position of the club and the cost of the jerseys, the secretary said that the club had a credit balance, ofter paying all accounts, of £3 7/-. The jerseys would cost approximately £5 ss. ’ " -

Mr Robinson said that the school, had in hand £2 towards the cost of the jerseys. / On the motion of Mr Neville it was decided that the Club find the additional money required to purchase the jerseys.

The President intimated that a. new ball would be ready for use by Saturday. X
