FOXTON BEACH IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY.
SOCIAL EVENING AND FAREWELL.
The usual social evening held under the auspices of the Foxton Beach Improvement Society, took place in the Beach Hall last evening when there was a large attendance and a most pleasant social time was spent. Prize winners were as follows: — Euchre: Gents: Mr T. McGee 1, Mi- W. Reader 2. Ladies: Miss Smith 1, Mrs Boyle 2. Dancing: Gay Gordons: Mrs Gilrnour and Mr T. Carter; Monte Carlo: Mrs Robinson and Mr. Woodman. Much appreciated items of a novel nature were contributed during the evening by Mr K. Radford, of Wellington. Opportunity ivas taken during the evening to farewell Captain and Mrs A. Nelson, who leave shortly to take up their residence in Wellington. At a suitable juncture, Mr A. Alsop, on behalf of beach residents and the conynittee, asked Captain Nelson to accept a token of esteem and in a neat valedictory speech expressed the regret of beach residents at their departure. He hoped that they would meet with success and happiness in their new sphere and would not forget to pay periodical visits to Foxton beach where they would always receive a warm welcome. Captain Nelson had always willingly assisted in anything for the benefit of the resort and as a worker he would be missed. Both he and Mrs Nelson had entered into the social side of the beach and their departure was universally regretted. Captain Nelson suitably replied and the guests of the evening were accorded musical honours.
Danciner was indulged in until a late hour.
Prior to the close of the evening Mr Alsop extended thanks to Mrs M. Ross for her assistance at the piano.
