PRESBYTERIAN LADIES SOCIAL GUILD.
The monthly meeting and social afternoon of the' Presbyterian Ladies Social Guild was held on Tuesday afternoon at the residence of Mr Jno. Ross, Thynne Street. The hostesses were Mesdames W. Nockles and J. Ross. There was an excellent attendance of members and friends and the President (Mrs I). ,R. Barron) presided. Busisess arising out of the proposal for painting and -renovating the interior of the Church was speedily dealt with, after which the Rev. Mr Fotheringham gave a most interesting address on Nigeria and the great white woman missionary in Africa, namely (Mary Slessor). The address was listened to with close attention and interest and appreciation of same was shown in the usual way. A dainty afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses. A quoit competition was Avon by Mrs Ebbett. A “Bring and Buy” sale did brisk business. Before dispersing Mrs D. R. Barron moved a vote of thanks to the Rev. Mi*. Fotheringham and the hostesses for the enjoyable afternoon they had provided, the motion being carried bv acclamation.
The next guild i$ to be held at Mrs Titcombe’s residence.
