N.Z. SPORTING AND DRAMATIC REVIEW.
Unrivalled in the merit of its reproductions, the current issue of the “N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review” stands out in its attractiveness and generous display of photographs. A striking frontispiece of the world’s greatest tenor, Richard Tauber, and a line coloured supplement of the world’s tennis champions, Fred Perry and Dorothy Round, at once strike the eye and should malke desirable picture souvenirs. Pennant competitions on Carlton bowling green provide a page of animated studies. An outstanding feature is the juvenile gmykhana at East Tamaki, two pages of striking incidents being exclusively recorded. The opening of the new Y.M.C.A. Memorial Hut at Petone by the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloc will afford particular interest. The double pages are devoted to snapshots of enthusiasts on the. lawn at the Avondale Jockey Club’s meeting. The Moonee Valley Gold Cup (Victoria) event is the subject of a specially fine page showing the New Zealand-bred horses in the running. Peter Pan’s second Melbourne Cup is another outstanding illustration. The new municipal tennis courts at Onehuuga are given an attractive pictorial display, and other interesting illustrations are the Devonport Tennis Club’s opening, view of the Auckland Zoo, Wellington Red .‘Cross nurses, Avondale Girls’ Club in an Oriental play, Takapuna Boating Club’s- Waitangi night, Seddon Memorial Technical College players in “lolanthe,” Sacred Heart College tennis tournament, bridal portraits, etc. The stage and cinema portraits occupy a prominent place in the illustration section, and will make a fascinating appeal to theatregoers. The Review is on sale at all leading booksellers.
