TOWN HALL TALKIES. “Evenings for Sale” is the new Paramount film at the Town Hall this evening, starring Herbert Marshall (phenomenal star of “Trouble in Paradise”), and featuring Sari Maritza, ‘Charlie Ruggles and Mary Boland. This romantic comedy from the Paramount studios, . set to music by Johann Strauss, takes place In modern Vienna against the background of nouveau riche commoners and impoverished noblemen who now have to work for a living. The presence of Charlie Ruggles, Mary Boland and George Barbier in the cast provides high moments, of comedy. The story, briefly, concerns an impoverished nobleman who finds himself at the end of his tether, penniless and without hope. Through a chance meeting with a beautiful girl at the annual Viennese carnival ball, his desire to live is I’evitalised. He accepts an ignoble position iu one of the city’s gay cafes, only to be discovered and insulted by the girl,'who is the daughter of a get-rieh-quick commoner. Backed by the warm sympathy and admiration of an American woman, the man eventually regains his wealth and courage, and a reconciliation with the masked beauty of the carnival is effected. Herbert Marshall plays the nobleman. Sari Maritza is cast as the girl in the story. Stuart Walker directed. Tom Mix enacts the dual role Of a bandit and a Texas Ranger in Universal’s “The Texas Bad Man” that comes to the Town Hall next Wednesday with Lucille Powers, Fred Kohler and Willard Robertson also iu the cast. “Tony” is also very much in evidence.
