HERRINGTON GOLF CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. ' • The following is the annual report to be presented at the annual meeting of the Herrington Golf Club to be held this evening:— “The Committee of the Herrington Golf Club has much pleasure in presenting its. annual report for the 1933 season. The year commenced with a cash balance of £6O 16/10 and finished with the sum of £6-1 16/10, even though members’ sub-, seriptions were reduced by 20 per cent. This successful result must be attributed to the wise and prudent manner in which the funds of the club have been administered. “Early in the season the pavilion was removed to the site of the present links and is now most conveniently situated. Proposals will probably be considered during the coming season to effect some improvement to the present building. “As will be seen from the statement of accounts a considerable sum has been expended in maintaining the links, and it can safely be said that last season they were better than ever before.

“The membership strength of the club has been well maintained; apresent there are 36 members and 43 associated members. - r Inter-club matches have been arranged with the various neighbouring clubs, 240 games in all being played, resulting as follows: Won 108, lost 120, halved 12. Details of the club matches amongst members are as follows: —

Medal Competition, won by Mr B. Gavin; Bogey Competition, Mr B. Gavin; Medal Competition, Mr L. Mattar: sealed hole competition. Mr J. H. Purcell; handicap (Clerke and Hutton Cup), Mr J. H. Purcell; foursome, Messrs E. T. son and B. Pedersen.

During the season the professional visited Foxton and gave 39 half-hour lessons, and appeared to give satisfaction to all. In conclusion, the committee desires to impress upon members and associate members the necessity of studying the rules and etiquette of the game in order to obtain that social harmony so desirable in a club of this nature. As the Club has free use of the property on which the link’s are situated the Committee feels sure that no member will transgress the bounds of hospitality.” The balance-sheet reads as follows :
