STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.
MAORI KILLED. New Plymouth, November 2 A Maori named Wanau was struck dead by lightning in a paddock at Omata this evening. He was a married man with several children.
Wanau was walking across a paddock with a son who, though only about eight feet away from bis father when the flash came, was unharmed. Wanau’s death was immediate. A brief thunderstorm followed a sunny and exceedingly hot day. Rain clouds quickly gathered arid heavy rain fell, accompanied by lightning. Within an hour the evening was again perfect.
