WOMEN’S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION.

The eighth annual meeting of the W.C.T.U. was held in the Methodist •Sunday School- room. Mrs J. Ross presided and after the devotional exercises, business was transacted. Reports and balance sheet were read and adopted, both proving satisfactory, though all members subscriptions are not in yet. Three new members have been initiated lately. It was decided to donate 5/- to the Methodist Church for gas used by the W.C.T.U. and Band of Hope the last few months and the usual yearly donation of £1 to the Willard Home from the Band of Hope; also 2/(i to the. Presbyterian Church for light from the Band of Hope and 5/- towards expenses of delegate to the Conference from W.C.T.U. Afternoon tea was then dispensed by the refreshment committee. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows: — President, Mrs J. Ross; vice-pre-sidents: Mrs J. Chrystall and Ensign Smith; secretary: Ensign Smith; Treasurer: Mrs J. M. Thomson; White Ribbon Agent: Mrs J. Chrystall; cradle roll secretary: Mrs W. Young; refreshment committee: Mesdames Parkin, Chrystall and Lee; superintendent Baud of Hope: Mrs J. Ross; assistant: Ensign Smith, The Band of Hope party is to be held on Friday evening, December 14th.
