The Minister of Education (Hon. 11. Atmore) visited schools in Palmerston Nn|rth yesterday and received deputations. It is reliably reported at Sydney that Mir. T. H. Lowry intends to make his bonne in Sydney. Mr. Lowry says lie proposes to buy more horses, and he may stay there anyway. “I will fry to sell my place at Napier, 'but will retain certain interests in New Zealand,” said Mr. Lowry. The death occurred at Wellington on Sunday lof Captain Victor Gallie, M.C., Croix de Guerre, late of the Royal Field Artillery, aged 38 years. Deceased received his early education at the Martin'borough School, and later at Wellington College, which school he represented at Rugby football foil 1 three years. He leaves a widow, but no children. IGaptain Victor Gallie was a. brother of Captain Oscar Gallie, D. 5.0., M.C., who was killed at Ypres. Both brothers had served et Samoa, both went Home to seek active service, both were decorated for distinguished service—now death has gametred both.
