THEFT ALLEGED. CHARGE AGAINST FORMER LEADER. Christchurch, August 6. Described as a former leader of the unemployed in Christchurch, a man whose name was suppressed, pleaded not guilty this morning to a charge of stealing £l6, the property of the Christchurch organisation of unemployed. Accused was remanded till Monday next, bail being allowed. His counsel said that the prosecution was prpbably a spiteful one and the outcome of dissension among the unemployed. The Magistrate: It will be better to let the facts speak for themselves. The question is whether the man is guilty.
