PERSONAL.
Mr and Miss Gower returned from Australia on Tuesday evening. Miss Owen, of the Wellington Hospital nursing staff, is at present on a visit to her parents. Mr H. Hornblow, local Stationmaster, returned to Foxton on Tuesday evening, after spending his annual leave in Wellington and the Taranaki district. Mr Hornblow resumed duty this morning. Mr I. Davey, of the Education Department, Wellington, is on a holiday visit to his sister, Mrs Barron. This morning Mr Davey paid an unofficial visit to the local school.
The death occurred at Palmerston N. on Sunday, of Air Arthur William Wheeler, at the age of 60 \ cars. The late Air Wheeler, who was born at Parewanui, Bulls, was engaged in farming in the Rangitikei district for a number of years, subsequently removing to Linton. In his youth, Mr Wiheeler was a member of the cavalry corps, formed in the Rangitikei district in the days when the Alaoris were troublesome. In addition to the widow there are three sons and two daughters left to mourn their loss.
