The crowning glory of the Dunedin Exhibition—the dome of the festival hall —has been wrecked by an explosion. The purchasers (Messrs "Scott and Cooper) found that to bring down the dome piecemeal would be an expensive, tedious and somewhat risky undertaking, involving the erection of scaffolidng and the use of a lot of gear, so they resolved upon demolition by means of explosives. The structure became detached bodily, and, retaining its shape for a second or two in falling, it collapsed on what were the paths and lawns of the grand court.
