LOST REVENUE.

EDUCATIONAL ENDOWMENTS.

INTERESTS OF THE

The belief that revenue derived from Education endowments throughout New Zealand should go specifically towards educational administration was expressed by Mi'. J. K. Hornblow at the Wanganui Education Board’s meeting on Wednesday night.

Mr. H. Mclntyre endorsed Mr. Hornblow’s view.

In answer to a question the chairman (Mr. W. A. Collins) said that the revenue derived was paid into the Consolidated Fund by the Lauds Department. Mr. Hornblow moved, and Mr. Mclntyre seconded, that the Department be asked, to pay over the funds direct to Education Boards for the benefit of the schools.

Mr. J. Aitken pointed out that it was undesirable that revenue from secondary school endowments for university endowments should be devoted to the primary schools. Mr. Hornblow: The point is that we hear a lot about the money taken from the public exchequer for educational purposes, but nothing is said of the big sums paid in from educational endowments. (Hear, hear). The motion was earned.—Wanganui Chronicle.
