OBITUARY.
MllS FANNY GOWER, AGED 48 YEARS. Mr. B. G. Gower received a cable from Yarrawonga, Victoria, yesterday announcing the sudden death of his wife. A few weeks ago Mrs Gower left Foxton, accompanied by her daughter Bertha, on a healthrecruiting trip to Australia and to visit her mother at Yarrawonga, Victoria. * For several years past the late Mrs Gower has not enjoyed good health and it was. thought that the change would benefit her. Recent letters received by Mr. Gower confirmed this and only on Tuesday last a letter stated that Mrs Gower was quite well. In the circumstances yesterday’s cable announcing his wife’s death came as a great shock to Mr. Gower and deceased’s many friends. The late Mrs Gower was 48 years of age and up to a few years ago took a keen interest in local social affairs, and was a willing helper in all deserving objects. Her death took place at the home of her Deceased leaves a husband, daughter (Bertha) and son (Jack, a student at Wjaitaki High School) to mourn the loss of a loving wife and affectionate and devoted mother. Mr. Gower and family will have the lieart--felt sympathy of the public in their bereavement. MR. EDGAR REDPATH. AGED 50 YEARS. News of the death of Mr. E. Redpath, manager of the Manakau Sawmilling Company, will be received with much regret. Deceased had been unwell for some little time and four days ago his condition became critical. He passed away at 10.30 p.m. on Thursday at the age of 50 years. The late Mr. Redpath was a partner in the Manakau Saw- . milling Company, to which he came from Palmerston North about IS months ago. For a great many years he was engaged in the timber industry of the Main Trunk district, and he was closely associated with the formation of Waipatiki Oil Wells, Ltd.—a company formed for the exploitation of petroleum in Hawkes Bay. Heartfelt sympathy will he accorded Mrs Redpath, who was formerly Miss Cook, a member of a well-known Foxton' family. Deceased was a brother of Mrs Dr. Adams of Wanganui and late of Foxton. The interment will take place at Wanganui to-morrow. MR. DAVID JOHN BEWS. The death- is announced from Wellington of Mr. David John Bows, until recently manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company there. The late Mr. Bews was a wellknown authority on fire insruanee and was oife- of the original members of the Foxton Fire Board, on which he represented with two colleagues, the associated fire insurance companies. He took a groat interest in the establishment of fire fighting in Foxton and Levin on an efficient, basis, contributing thereto by his sound practical, knowledge and shrewd common sense. Those associated with him in connection with fire brigade and insurance matters will hear with regret of his death.
