EXCURSION FARES.
RAILWAY CONCESSIONS. Alterations in railway fares and rates are gazetted to come into fofe'e on 18th December, Wartinie restrictions on.ihe availability of tickets are cancelled, and the following substituted Except in the case of suburban lines, single tickets for distances over 20 miles are available for four days, including date of issue. Return tickets for distances over 10 miles are available for return for one monlb, including date of issue. The currency of all tickets will terminate at 12 o’clock midnight.
After public notification in each case, return excursion tickets, according to a special schedule, may he issued on the railways on such holidays and special occasions, and available for return for such period, as may be arranged for by the*Department, The schedule ranges from (is first-class and Is 2d secondclass for a Journey of 20 to 2(i miles, to £5 10s 3d first-class and £3 13s 8d second-class for 500 miles. Over 500 miles the rate is 2id per mile first-class and lid per mile secondclass, The rate rises by about Is per each seven miles and Is (id to Is 8d for each seven miles first-class. Excursion tickets available for day of issue only will be issued to school parties, factories, friendly societies, and registered trade unions, numbering not less Ilian twenty persons, travelling together for recreation, and not for business purposes. •
Stop-over excursion tickets available for return for one week (from date of ilfcte) will be issued to school pleasure parties and school athletic teams, numbering not less than twenty persons in all, bona tide scholars and teachers, travelling together. The fares charged will be according to special schedules. Tickets at these rates will not be issued on public holidays, and the, Department does not undertake to carry parties by mail-express trains. Where special trains are provided a guarantee equal to 100 secondclass adult ordinary return fares may be required, minimum charge £lO.
'Second-class ordinary return tickets at general fares, available for first-class carriages, will be issued to football, cricket, tennis, hockey, and bowling- teams, golf, rowing, aud.rifle chibs, and pleasure parties of not less than twelve adult passengers travelling together. Where a single journey only is to be made, second-class single tickets at general fares will be issued available for first-class carriages. Muni mum fare, Is Cd. Second-class return tickets at general fares, endorsed available^ for return up to and including the day after issue only, will be issued at three-fourths the ordinary second-class return faro to teams, clubs, and pleasure parties of not less than twelve adult passengers travelling together who wish to travel seeond-eloss. Minimum fare Is 6d.
