ACCIDENT.

A serious accident happened to a man named Railton, employed on the- relay railway gang at Bainesse this morning. It appears that he was unloading sleepers from a truck, and iu an endeavour to prevent one from falling on a mate’s hand, he overbalanced and fell backward from the truck to the ground, the heavy sleeper falling across his chest. Ho was immediately brought to Foxlon by special train for medical aid. Dr Kerr-Hislop examined the injured man npou arrival at the station, and ordered his removal to the Palmerston Hospital. The full extent of the injuries are not yet ascertained.
