Reasons Against No-License. FIRST —lf No-License is carried in Foxton every Hotel will be closed up, and no one wall be able to purchase liquor of any kind in Foxton. This is decidedly tyrannical and unjust. SECOND —If you desire to purchase any liquor, }mu will have to order it from some other district under license. You would require to state that the liquor you want is intended to be sent to Foxton, and your name and address would require to be given to the merchant in writing. THIRD —The merchant would then require to send your name and address to the Clerk of the Magistrate’s Court, describing both the nature and the quantity of the liquor you ordered. FOURTH —For any breach of these laws, you will be liable for a first offence to a penalty of £ 2O, and for a second offence to a penalty of FIFTH —If No-License is carried in Foxton you would then be liable to have your house raided by the police, even on “ suspicion ” that you were selling liquor. The police could seize any found in your house, and if they found more than they deemed to be a reasonable quantity, it would be prima facie evidence that you were unlawfully selling liquor, and you would. have to satisfy the Magistrate that you were not. If he was not satisfied, he could sentence yon to a term of imprisonment. This is tyranny of the worst kind, and this NoLicense. SIXTH —No-License acts on the principle that the working man is more immoral and degraded, and must be kept in order by force. The rich man can take care of himself. _ _ • SEVENTH —No-License is therefore most insulting to the worker, and for these reasons every working man, to preserve his self-respect and his liberty, should score out the two bottom lines on election day.
