Foxton v. Rongotea.

The above match was played at Victoria Park, yesterday, and resulted in an easy win for the local team by an innings and 42 runs. Foxton batted first and knocked up 122 ; Stalker 46, Hickson 22, Cleland 15, and Bartlett 14, being the chief scorers. Rongotea in their first innings made only 44, and owing to the deadly bowling of Cleland and Bartlett, there was not-a double figure score in the innings. The visitors followed on but could only total 36, thus leaving Foxton winners by the above margin. In Rongotea’s second innings, Bartlett’s bowling was unplayable. He captured 8 wickets for 7 runs, which, we believe, constitutes a record for the local pitch; The visitors were entertained at dinner at the Post Office Hotel, and afternoon tea was supplied on the ground by the local eleven.
