In Memoriam.
OSCAR HONORE. A sadly pleasing ceremony was witnessed at the Foxton State School on Tuesday afternoon, when a marble tablet subscribed for by children and teachers to the memory of Oscar Honore, a former pnpil, was unveiled. There were several ladies and gentlemen present in addition to members of the committee, the chairman of which (Mr S. H. Baker) performed the unveiling ceremony. Appropriate addresses were given by Messrs W. S. Stewart (headmaster), Baker, G. A, Simpson, and Alf. Frrser, and each in alluding to the many good qualities of the deceased lad and the high esteem in which he was held urged all the children to strive to follow his example. Mr G. Nye, grandfather ot the dead boy, briefly returned thanks on behalf of the family. The memorial, in the shape of a marble tablet, shows very simple but effective workmanship, and is placed oh the east wall of the western room. The inscription reads : IN MEMORY OF OSCAR HONORE Born 15th Nov, 1890 Drowned in Manawatu River nth Feb. 1903. THE BEST BOY IN THE SCHOOL.
