The Majeroni Dramatic Company.
Fresh from their phenomenally successful season at the Theatre Royal at Palmerston North the mem* hers of the celebrated Majeroni Company arrived by train this afternoon, and commence their long-looked for season at the Public Hall this even* ing.< Mr tiharles McMahon under whose direction the Company are appearing, informs us that the New Zealand tour has been little short of a triumphal march. In Christchurch for fourteen nights the theatre was packed to the doors. The play which will be staged to night, “ The Shamrock and the Bose,” has been received with the greatest favour in Australia and New Zealand. The author, Mr Walter Reynolds, has elaborated a most ingenius photo and at the same time has woven a charming love romance round the hero and heroine. The motive of the play is the present condition of Ireland under the tenant system, and this subject is sufficiently wide to admit of the colours been laid on with a generous hand for the purpose of the general audience, and while the wrongs of that “most distressful Country" are brought out in their most vivid light. The drama breathes with quaint witticisms and startling situations. Mr George Majeroni, who impersonates the hero, Dandy Dunraren, has a part in which he fairly revels in, and Mr Ml Majeroni as Stephen Flint, the villain, has no equal on the colonial stage in that character. The heroine Miss Hilda Meade will sustain the part of Miss Rosa Riveredale, in which she scored a distinct success in London and New Zealand. The long list of characters will be in capable hands. The doors will be open at 7.15, and the curtain will rise promptly at 8 o’clock. To-morrow the powerfully written domestic drama, “ Brother Against Brother " will ..be most dangerous enemy and the mother’s most dreaded foe. Immediate and proper treatment is always necessary. Chamberlain’s « Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy given according to directions, is the most effectual remedy known. Every household should have a boiile at hand. Get it today. it may save a life.
