— _ — — — __ __ We are glad to say that the latest report received from Wellington states that Miss Ada Stansell has taken a change for the better. At a banquet held to celebrate the centenary of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys, 4000 Freemasons were present. A sum of £134,000 was subscribed towards the funds ef the institution. The Spanish Admiral commanding the defeated fleet at Manila says Commodore Dewey sent him a message by the English Consul, saying that, in peace or war, he would have pleasure in graeping him by the hand, and congratulating him on the gallant manner in which he fought. A graceful incident of the war is recorded in the American papers just to hand. Lieutenant Del Pino, of the Spanish Infantry, and an orderly, who were captured by the gunboat Wilmington aboard a small schooner bound for Matanzas, were put ashore at Santa Cruz, 24 miles from Havana, by the United States scout boat Algonquin. Lieutenant Del Pino was on furlough, going to see his wife and an infant child, who was born on the previous week, and whom his fathar had not yet seen. In the circumstances, Admiral Sampson decided to let the Spanish officer and his orderly go under parole. The Algonquin, flying a flag of truce, therefore steamed into Santa Cruz. She performed her mission safely, and apparently without incident, and then returned to Key West. The horse in the pound will be 6Oid on Saturday at noon. A chance is thus given to buyers of getting an animal at their own price.
