A very pleasant afternoon was spent on Tuesday in Mr Rhodes' garden, when the ladies of All Saints congregation held a garden party. The weather was all that could be desired, for though very jff arm the shelter of the trees affi^iorded splendid resting places. Meadames Whyte, Easton, Wright and Wilson had charge of the stall for the. sale of work, and though not extraordinarily busy succeeded in disposing of a fair number of articles. Mrs Stewart had a ' sweet ' stall under the spreading willow tree and though her customers- seldom exceeded the sum of one penny in purehties, managed to pile up the coins at the end of the day to a respectable amount. Mesdames Morton and Rhodes presided over the most sought after stall, that for afternoon tea, where a delicious cup of tea and cake or saidwiches were .distributed "free gratis and for nothing." Mr Rhodes initiated imall sportsmen how to shoot at coooanuts and reaped his reward in the profits made for the church. Mr Ray was guardian at the gate, ably assisted by a first-lieutenant in the person of master Guy Rhodes. Tbt Bet. R. and Mra Young ware ptmnt m well as the Mist Youngs, and they helped considerably the work of the ladies. The most noticeable item was the absence of tht malts and of friends belonging to other denominations. The results of the day's work is however very ■atisfaetory, resulting in a total of an.
