In the House of Commons, in reply to a question, Mr Shaw Lefevre, President of the Local Government Board, said the Government was not aware whether Australia, New Zea^ land or other exporters disinfected dairy produce, and there was no intention at present on the part of the Government to legislate on the subject. The Government majority in a division on clause 6 of the Disestab* lishment of the Welsh Church Bill fell to seven.
The Government ha 9 been defeated on the Army Estimates by a majority of seven votes on an amendment proposed by Mr Brodrick, member for the Guilford Division of Surrey, protesting against the inadequacy of the reserves of ammunition, especially cordite. Mr H. Campbell-Bannerman, Secretary of State for the War Department, forthwith moved to report progress.
Later in the evening a Cabinet meeting wag held, and it is believed that a crisis is imminent.
It is understood (hat Mr Camp.
bell-Bannerman has resigned, aud that this will entail the resignation of the Cabinet.
One is to the effect that Mr Campbell Bannerman has withdrawn his resignation, on the understanding that a motion will be submitted in the House on Monday.

A Manchester Colonial Steamship Company is being formed to run produce steamers between New Zealand, Australia and Manchester and Glasgow, calling at the Cape. The builders of the vessels are taking shares; In the douse of Colnmona, Mr Campbell-Bannerman announced that the Duke of Cambridge, Com-mander-in-Chief of the British Army, resigns that position on October 1.

The Pall Mall Gazette states that China in April gave a London bank the option of arranging the indemnity loan, receiving an immediate advance of a million, and therefore hesitates to ratify the RussoCbinese loan.
Dunn's Review states that trade and industry is improving in America, and that idle ironworks are restarting work.
