Fire at Palmerston.
The following particulars, relating to the fire at Talinerstonorii Tuesday is given by the ■ -Times: — At five o'clock last evening, the eight roome'd house, owned by MissfKelly> and occupied by the Rev Mr Ybung,;sWfi3 burned to the ground. The family were sea ted yat tea in the diningroom; when' a : crackling ri6ise in 'tfie kitchen attracted their attention, aod on going out, it was discovered that the kitchen was on fire. '■ The^ house being an old, one, the fire spread rapidly, and the whole building was soon enveloped in flames. ' Some, of the furniture was saved f ;"'ifi6lttding an organ, but the Rev fttr Ydjiibg" is V a heavy loser, as he h»d ho 'ip§ur- ' ance on the furniture. Mr* Young was on his way home out the time the fire occurred. Tha' Fire Brigade* - were soon on the spot, but as 1 " there are no fireplugs at present /*ift' the locality, their appliances wera iise- k less ; but in any cage they could; -.not have saved the building. Much sympathy was felt for Mr Young and his family, who had only takeft up their residence in the, hou|6 on Thursday last. The 'Salvage Cjorps were present under Lieut. Cox. The building was insured in the New Zealand office for £200. ' , //
