Foxton Borough Council.

A special meeting of the above Council was held at the Library buildings yesterday at 2 p.m. Present— The Mayor (G. Nye), Crs Austin, Startup, Ahem, Williams, Stansell and McMillan. The following tenders were received for ranger : — P. Guerin, £10 ; A. Reeve, £12 ; P. Williams, £15 ; J. W. Watson, £12 10s. Cr Stansell proposed and .Cr Austin seconded, That the tender of J. W. Watson for ranger' for 12 months be accepted. As an amendment, Cr Williams proposed and Cr McMillan seconded, That Guerin' s tender be accepted. On a division being taken — Ayes : Williams and McMillan. Noes : Austin, Startup, Ahem, Stansell and Nye. The amendment was therefore lost. The resolution being then put was carried on the voices.
