Sports Committee.

» The Committee who organised and carried through the Atheletic Sports on Easter Monday, met at the Manawatu hotel last evening. Mr T. P. Williams was elected to the chair. The Secretary and Treasurer presented the following balance sheet which was duly approved of and passed : — Balance sheet of the receipts and expenditure in connection with the Atheletic sports held on Easter Monday. Nominations, £6 5s 6d ; nominations and acceptances on the ground, £6 7s ; sale of privileges, £10 15s ; cards, lls ; protest, ss. Grand total, £88 3s 6d. Expenditure— Prizes, £29 12s 6d ; and children's prizes, £1 6a ; printing and advertising, £4 17s ; labour, 12s ; protest, ss ; total, £86 12s 6d ; balance to be handed to the Mayor on behalf of the band, £1 lls. It was resolved that the prizes be paid by the treasurer, as also the accounts. A few subscriptions of the value of 80s unpaid were handed to the Secretary of the band to collect and retain on behalf of the band. A vote of thanks was passed to the honorary secretary for the trouble he had taken. It was suggested that a capital meeting might be arranged to be held at the end of the year. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the business.
