The results of the business for th( Forty-first year, ending Slst December, 1889, may be summarised ns under : — First — The number of the new policies issued vras 11, CG .. Second —'ihe new A; surnnco business effected \\a9 for £8,679,459. Third -Tho new Annual Premium Income amounted to £121,800. Fourth — The net increase to the business, after allowing for loss of income from terminated Policies, was represented by 7028 policies,nssuring £2,109,199. Fifth — The oporj tions of the year raised tho annual income of the society from £1 512,280 to £1,625---185, an increase in twelve months of £112,905. : Fixth — ' he accnmula'ed fund was increased during the year by the sum of £742,811, equal to 71 per cent, of tho gross premiums reoeived. Seventh— The deaths among lives assured were 649 under 785 policies, causing claims upon tho Society amounting to £299,602. irrespective of Bonus additions, while the number expected according to the Tables used in estimating the liabilities would have been 1148, for nn amount of £438,976, the mortality experience being thus extremely favourable. : Eighth — The receipis from interest and rents were £516,882, au amount exceeding the sum paid for the olaims by £188,952. NiNra^-The expenses of management were only 9^5 per cent, of the total receipts. f TBNTHrrThe cash surplus diyi<Uudt for the/year HBs9 ; wps v£426,*04, being at the rate of 41 5 per cent, on the premiums reoeived. The operations of the Society during the 41 years of its existence may be summarised as under — * It has issued 141,007 policies, assuring &4c9 i <kX r 7, r 71 r 7.
