FOXTON HARBOUR BOARD.

« A meeting of the above Board was held at the Athenseum yesterday. Present — Messrs. Gray, (chairman). Thynne, ariß Easton. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Nl THE PROPOSED TELEGRAPH. Letter read from Telegraph Department staling that the cost of connecting the Board's office with the signal station, by, telegraph witb A.B.C. instruments (costing £50 each), would amount to £190. From Messrs. Freeman and Wyld, offering to contribute to the proposed work. From Manager of the "Wellington and Wanganui line of steamers, to a similar effect, but wishing to know the probable cost before naming a sum. Proposed by Mr Thynne, seconded by Mr Easton, and carried, "That the chairman be requested to enquire of the General Manager the cost of connecting the same by telephone." THE PROPOSED RIVER SURVEY. From the Palmerston Borough Council, asking for further information before making a grant in aid of the survey of the Manawatu River. From the Manchester Highways Board, stating the sum of £10 had been voted for the above object. From the Manawatu County Council, stating that a sum of £25 had been voted for the purpose. From the Foxton Local Board, stating that a sum of £10 10s would be granted when the Board was in funds. From the Manawatu Highways Boutd, stating that the Board was not in a position to grant any funds for the proposed survey. From F. Robinson, covering cheque for £10 for rent of Signal Reserve. From the Marine Department stating that Mr Benjamin Dawson had been appointed' wharfinger at Foxton, and askin z that he might be appointed- Deputy Harbourmaster iv place of Mr Batt. Proposed by Mr Thynne, seconded by Mr Easton, and carried, " That Mr Dawsou be appointed during the pleasure of the Board, vice Mr C. Batt, removed. BALANCE SHEET. • The balance sheet was read and and ordered to be printed.
