School Committee;— There was a very poor attendance at the meeting of householders last night for the purpose of electing the' new Committee. Messrs A. Gray, T. P. 'Williams, A. S. Eiston, J. Rockstrow, Robt. MLeau, C. Sym-ms, an<i E. S. Thynne, were elected, tho last gentleman consenting t» acfc as chairman till the first full meeting of committee. Otaki Court. —Several criminal cases— including three larceny and one forgery— were heard at a sitting of this Cmrtyeaterday. A full report will appear in our next issue. Impounded Horses.— Three horses were sold at tho Fu.xtou pound yesterday. They realised £5, £4 10j, and £1 10s, respectively. Anniversary Dat.— Last Saturday was observed as a. close holiday, in honor of the settlement of the province. The banks and various places of business were closed, and everyone seemed bent on enjoying a good holiday. The annual treat given to the children attending the Primitive Mothodist Sunday School was held in Mi- Poole'a paddock, on the Aye- ue, kindlj lent for the occasion. A lange number of children attended, and enjoyed themselves immensely. Auction Saw.— Messrs T. Kennedy Macdonald & Co. will sell by auction, at Wellington, on ifonday next, 31st inst, a valuable farm at Pthnnrston North, known as Mr Edward OMilley'a. Full particulars of the sale will be found in our advertising columns. Monument.— At the conclusion of the burial of the remains of Ibakara ye -terday, Messrs J. T. Stewart and F. Robinson inaugurated a subscription list, for the purpose of raising f unda with which to erect a monument over the grave of the deceased chief. The object is a very good one, and we have no doubt sufficient money will be subscribed to erect a really substantial monument. Otaki Racks.— The settling up took place lait week. Mr John Jillet, the hon. secretary and treasurer, has kindly forwarded us the following list of prize mon<iy paid over to the various winners : — Mr D. Fraser, £35 ; Mr John Higgle, £30 ;Mr A. Macalister, £20 ; Mr John Whitehouse, £20 ; Hoani Taipua, £10 ; H. Davidson, £10; Heremia. £7 10s; W. Collins, £(i 6s. Total, £138 16s. The Coming Regatta.— A great deal of interest is being taken in the sailing race, at the forthcoming regatta.
