A Modest Claim. — The following: report haß been laid before tbe House of Representativeß by the Native Affairs Committee : — " Petition of Ngatuere and others — The petitioners state that they arc the owners of Wellington. Inasmuch as it "as ksufficiently paiJ for in pipes, marbles, and other beguiling articles, instead of gold, silver, and precious .stones, they prny that one million of acres be returned to them, and that they may receive compensation to the extent of one miliion pounds sterling, I am directed to report as follows: — That the committee has no recommendation to make. Jitnromber 7th, 1879."
