We regret to hear that a difficulty has cropped up in connection with the Saudon Raihvay scheme, which threatens to render null and void the preliminary ateps taken. From what we can learn — and our information is reliable — it appears that on the plan, &c, being submitted by the Company to the Governor for his approval, it was discovered that the title " Foxton and Sanson Eailway " was irregular, as the plan showed that the line to be constructed will be only from Carnarvon junction to the latter place, and not from Foxton. The matter was considered to be of such grave import as to necessitate an enquhyfrom the Solicitor-General whether, uiider these circumstances, it could be said the requirements of the Act had been complied with, and upon his decisioii will rest the question of whether or not the company must start de nom. We sincerely trust no such difficulty as that we have suggested, will stand in the way of tlie work. The spirit of the Act has been undoubtedly complied with, as the title of tlie company or of the scheme is a mere matter of form. Throughout it has been stated that the intention of the company

was to construct a line from Carnarvon junction to Sanson, and it will be a matter of regret if for the reason that tho scheme i.s alleged to have been wrongly styled, tho company should bo compelled to go to tho expense of again laying tlie foundations of the scheme.
