OTAKI HIGHWAYS BOARD
A moeting of the above Board was held ttt their office on MoDday last.* Present — Messrs. Simcox (chairman), Kebbell, M'Orae, Udy, and Dr. Hewson. The minutes of previous meeting were read and continued. A letter »vas read from the Mana* watu Highways Office in reply, re settlement of accounts between that body and the Otaki Highways Board, promising to lay the letter applyiag for a settlement before tho Hoard at their next meeting on the 30th October, and to transmit the result. A letter from the Agent of the Bank of New Zealand was read, and stands deferred until next meetin» of the Board. A letter from Mr W Small was read, and in reply, Mi Kebbell pro« posed, seconded by Mr Udy— -"That the Clerk be instructed to write to Mv Small informing him, that the road leading to the Otaki river is under consideration by the Board, and will be pushed on as soon as the best practicable route can be obtained horn the natives." Carried. The report of the Drainage Committee was read, upon which Sir Kebbell proposed, seconded by Mi Udy, and carried,-- "That a commit* tee be appointed, consisting of Mr M'Orae and the mover, to report on the best site for a gravel pit, for the use of Highways Hoard." Proposed by Mr Kebbell, seconded by Mr M'Crae,— "That the chairman do call for tenders for the valuation of the Otaki Highway District, tenders to be in readiness for the next meeting of the Board." Carried. The account ot J . A. Knocks, fo salary and sundries, for £l 1 12s Gd, was passed. Proposed by Mr Kebbell, seconded by Dr. Hewson and carried,— "That the next meeting of the Hoard be held on Saturday, the 22nd November, at 2 o'clock p m." The Board then adjourned.
