MANAWATU COUNTY COUNCIL.

Yesterday. The Council met at 2 pra. Present— Messrs Macarthur (Chairman), Sanson, Halcombe, Kebbell, Linton, Loudon. SPECIAL MEETING. Aspecial meeting was held to consider the matter of drainage throughout the County, notice having been given of a motion by Mr Sanson. The following resolution was proposed by Mr Sanson, seconded by Mr Halcombe, and carried : — "That all drains and watercourses situated in' district roads iv the County of Manawatu be hereby placed under the control of the various Highway and Local Boards in the County in whose dis trints such watercourses may be, in accordance with the provisions of the ' Public Works Aet,Jlß76 ;' and that the Chairman cause the necessary notioo to be published as required by law." The Chairman pointed out that the above resolution would need to be confirmed at a meeting to be held not sconer than four weeks. This concluded the business of the special meeting, and the Council adjourned.
