MASSACRE OF A BOAT'S CREW.
(Piilt PKESS AGENCY.) Auckland, Tuesdny. ]iy the arrival of the brigantine Meg Merriles wo havo news of the massacre of a boat's crew from the Auckland schooner Agues Donald at Pentecost Island. The Agnea Donald returned to Levuka from a labor cruise on the 2nd instant, and the captain ruporcod that while at Pentecost Island a boat's crew landed, aud the men were attackod >v the beach by the natives. The crew of the boat were under the charge of the mate, a young man named George Simpson, who was well knowa in Auckland, from whonco be came. He fired his rovolvei and wounded one of his assailants, lie was struck on the hoail and knocked back on
tho beaeli, and was killed. Three natives who composed the crew were litovallj* torn to pieces. Simpson was a young man, and his wife and infant are in Auckland. Mrs Donald proceeded to the residence of the widow this afternoon to break the sad intelligence to her.
