Pout Chalmers, July 22. As the ship Benares was being towed out yesterday she struck |on the bar. Early this morning, she got oif, and was taken to anchorage when it was found that sho had 18 inches of water in the well. Since then she has been making from 6 to 7 inches per hour. She will have to be discharged and docked. Dnnedin, July 23. An official enquiry into the circumstances connected with the ship Benares striking on the bar, will be held as soon as it is considered safe for the officers to leave the vessel.
