♦ Sir Julius Yogel addressed the Falmouth electors, and received a promise of general support. It is intended to establish a German Bank at Sydney, with the view to secure direct consignments of wool to Germany. Money Wigram and Co. are building a new steamer called the Nor* folk, for the Australian trade. Another larg6 steamer, the Orient, for the Australian trade, has been launched. A Bill is to be introduced to enable Agents-General to sit in Parliament. Professor Workman believes that a specimen of the Moa will yet be found in some part of the unexplored interior of this colony. Oommordore Hoskins is to be promoted to flag rank. It is expected that Prince Leopold will visit the Sydney Exhibition. The Prince of Wales will probably leave England in October next year, and get back in 1881. Relief Committees have been formed to assist Cornish miners to emigrate to Australia and New Zealand. The Governor of Fiji has been instructed to investigate the behavior of the Rev. G. Brown when he attacked the natives of New Britain after the^nassacre of the Wesleyan catechists. It was stated at the Paris Congress that the Panama canal would save nine thousand miles of &ea voyage between European ports and the Pacific coast, and between new York and Australia the voyage would be reduced by three thousand miles. Two sons of the Piince of Wales sail at the end of July on a twelve months' cruise in the frigate Bac» chante, and will visit the old and new worlds. According to the new contract with the P. and O. Company, the voyage Vetween Home and Melbourne is to be done in thirty -nine days. _________
