J.IYB Appointed. — A recent Gazette announces that H. Sanson, Esq., of Sandon, and LI. F5. M'Kenzio and G. A. 11. Rockel, Esqs., of Carnarvon, have been appointed Justices of the Peace for the colony. Whilst congratulating these gentlemen upon the honor conferred upon them, wo think their appointment to the list of justices will be regarded with general favour iti the district, as they are known to be willing to undertake cheerfully any responsibility or duty which accompanies an official position. So much cannot be said of twothirds of tho Justices dwelling in towns. In scattered country districts, the appointment of a considerable number of J ustices of the Peace is a necessity, owing to the many instances in which documents have lo be signed before them. Country settiers frequently travel long dictations in search of a J.l\, only to find on reaching his residence that he is absent, and they are compelled to go miles further upon an equally doubtful errand This inconvoni- ' enco can bo obviated by the appointment of 1 it sufficient number of men of integrity to 1
