WRIT lEN TENDERS will be received for cutting TOT ARA SLEEPERS, with the right of cutting other timber, out of a Govern** meat reserve of 470 acres, more or less, in the Manawatu District, to which the Government are now con* struct'ng a branch railway from the main line, about 155 chains long, for the purposes of this contract. Gene> ral conditions, specifications, &c, may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Auckland, Foxton, Wanganui, and Wellington, where ako tenders are to be lodged, until NOON of Saturday, the "list June, 1879, accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where the tender is lodged ; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for one month, and to be in favour of the Receiver- General's Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order. The land in this reserve, atter the above contract is finished, will revert to the Feilding Corporation, who will then have power to deal with it as with their other lands. The attention of intending contractors is specially drawn to this ciicumstance, as they might thus be enabled to acquire and settle on the lani afier the completion of their contract.
