A GiWTiiK Reminder.-— When tho Man a» wato Herat,]) was started, the sim'"arity of the first word of the title to that of our Palmerston contemporary, led. to numerous quotations from dnq o> other of tile journals 13eln*j frequently (by mistake), placed to the credit of its rival. But sufficient time has ne w elapsed to lessen the probabilities of such errors, In a recent ( issue; we gave a dsscriptlou of an infant 22 years old, at Bulls. Our Palrriei'sfcon contemporary also referred to the same subject. "We were therefore rather surprised to see, in a recent number of the Wellington Evening Chronicle, the Manawatu Tillies' article quotedj with a portion of our dwii article inserted in tile centre; pur . cod temporary of course receiving, credit for tho whole: We may point dnt, in a friendly way, that such a system is not in accordance with journalistic etiquette.

Mr Robertson reported that ho had attended tho recent Hospital conference, when the Borough Conncil had expressed themselves willinar to give £100, towards building a new Hospital. Subsequently, this amount had been increased to £1100, with the understanding that the Counties of Rangitikei, Manawatu, and Wanganui should each subscribe JJ3UO. The amount would thus be brought up to £2000, which would ensure an equal amount from (iovemment, making a total of £4000. Ho understood the present site on the river bank was not likely to be ut ; lised for increasing the fund. A long desultory conversation followed on the state of the Council's finances. The majority of the members expressed them selves in favour of giving the required £300; but the Chairman explained that they were not at present in a position to do so. Eventually, it was resolved, " Thit on account of the heavy expenditure on roads, the Council does not see its way at present to contribute £300 towards the erection of a Hospital, but will £rant that sum for the purpose as soon as the f'ini3 are forthcoming." It is to be regretted that the Wanganui County Council have not shown greater liberality in this matter, as the effect of the resolution passed may bw to delay the erection of the new Hospital. They ought to be in funds, seeing the accounts paesed amounted to only £08 9s,
