The convoy had .been previously warned of the: probable attack, but although everything had beenj prei pared the Zulus overwhelmed them. The captain commanding the escort and 40 men r were killed, 21 misping, and 40 reached Luneberg. \ i^he British guns and ammunition were afterwards recovered and the dea/^ buried. , ; , ."'.,•>' The relieving force for' Ekowe starts on the 26th March.
