The charges of insubordination made by Mr Thomson, Surveyor General, against Mr Henry Jackson, Chief Surveyor of the Wellington Provincial District, hare been held to be proved by the Commissioners appointed to investigate them. The Government have offered, if Mr Jackson would resign, to give him one month's salary for every year he had been in the service, but that if he did not resign Ministers would be compelled to recommend His Excellency to discharge him, Mr Jackson has replied, declining to relieve those who had the power to dismiss him from the responsibility of their act.
