Welungtox, Friday, We (N. Z. Times) report a modem amount of business only i* the import trade of the past week, with a large accumulation of stocks. Prices remain unchanged, but there is no doubt t'aat lower rates would be accepted in many lines to effect a sale. A parcel of Black Swan tobacco, consisting of 20£ therces, and 14 cases slightly damaged, were sold by Mr G. Thomas by auction at 5d to 5Jd for tierces, and 8d for eases. Ten tons fencing wire, No. G to 8, at £12 per ton. The same amount of depression prevails through the produce trade, and prices all show a declining aspect. Oats are in full supply at 3s 4d ts 3s 6d per bushel. Wheat for fowls scarce, and worth 4s to 4s 3d in small lots. Maize in moderate demand at 5s 6d. Provisions, butter, cheese, bacon, and hams, at last week's rates. Flour continues at a low figure and best brands off Sonthera Mills cannot be quoted higher than £9 10s per ton. Potatoes continue in good demand, and best samples are worth £6 to £7 per ton, Sawn timber meets with improved demand at 10s to 11s 3d per 100 ft.

Crristckuuch, Friday. Money is still very scarce, and there is very little speculation in grain. The shipping' companies have reduced freights to 30s. The enquiry for wheat, consequent on such reduction, is stronger, and prices have advanced to 3s 2^d to 3» 4d for prime mill ng, and brewers will not look at anything unless really prime ; we quote 4s 9d to 5s current|values. Oats 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; flour £9 10s to £10 10s ; butter very scarce at ll£d to 1» ; cheese, Bd.
