An account having been received from i thoComnnttoooftheWanganui Hospital for £0 14s Bd, for maintenance of two patients during January, and proportion of Hospital staff cost, The Ohair.i an thought that some definite arrangoment shomld be made, as to tho number of patients to he accommodated from Manawatu. They wero certainly not liable for the two patieuts unless they were hona fide Manawatu Residents. A patient forwarded by him had been refused admission, on the ground that there was no room. It. would bo useless to continue tha present arrangement, if a pati3tit could bo refused admission by a nurse or warder. Mr Hanson said the total accommodation was for 18 patients The Chairmau said if so, they should insist upon propar accommodation being made for Manawatu residents. If they were to piy£2s for stuff expenses, they should know how many they could send. The IS beds might be takeu up by p itieata from other Districts, and in that case they would get nothing for their moaey. Ho would sooner see a certain subsidy given by the Council to tho Wanganui Hospital to increase the accommodation and so ensnre tho admission of their patients. Mr Sanson suggested they should ask for a guarantee of room for 6 patients. He thought a lottcr should be sent strongly pointing out tha necessity for increased uccommodatioa.

Dr lioekstrow considered the accommodation not sufficient. Wanganni itself was l&rg* enough to need 18 beds He thought it desirable for Mttnawafco and Rnngitikei to unite aud hare a Hospital at Bulls. Mr Linton was disposed to put the matter strongly to the Wauganui t 'oramittee. If they agreed :o receive pationts they should have room for them.

The Chairman thought a Mnnawatu wing
