The Chronicle tonight lias an article on tho murderer Walsh's case, saying that the Government, on otaining a certificate from a medical man. that Walsh was suffering from mania, advised the Governor to commute his sentence to penal servitude for life. No further action has been taken by Ministers since the subse* quent medical commission declared him sane, and it is stated in wellinformed circles no advice of any kind has as yet been tendered by Ministers to the Governor on Walsh's case since his conviction Grbytown, Monday, 5 p.m. The handicaps for the races are declared.
