I FOXTON. i Wkdxesdvy, Qcdher 18. (Before R. Ward, Esq., R.M.) SLAUGHTERING CATTLE. Augustus S. Easton was charged upon iiio information of Constable Purcell with having slaughtered upon liis premises, on 13th December last, two lambs and one o l ilf,cyntrary to the Slaughterhouses Act, such premises nut being duly licensed. Defendant admitted the offence, but aaid the person from whom the I animals were brought was present, i and would give evidence to the effect j that owing to tho excessive heat on the day in question, tho animals had j to \'O killed at once, as they had suif- | eredin being brought in from Mou:oa. His Worship said as it was a first offence under tho Act, lie would fine defendant os aud 10s GJ costs. CIVIL CASKS. j John Syinons v. Thomas Poarce. — {Claim, £12 7s 2d, for meat supplied in tho year 1873. Plaintiff produced his books. Defendant admittod part of the debt, but said tho greater portion was for moat supplied to two other men, working at tho same contract. Judgment for £3 9s 3d and costs, £i 13s Od. Uis Worship s.id Mr Syinons would have to proceed against the other two men for the remainder. Thomas Pearca v. D. Daley. — Claim £14 3s Od. This was rather | a mixed affair. Defendant was one ! of a party of contractors working j near plaintiffs house ; tho account being mado up of a numbor of small j items, for vegetables supplied, tools lent, &c. Pearce admit ol having received £3 off tho account. Case adjourned till next Court cUy, Janu- ! ary 8. I Thomas Pearoo v. B. She-ran. — j Claim £>•! 5s Od. This was a somo- | what similar case to the previous one, j the chief dispute being over tho lending of a horse. Nonsuited, with costs, 14s.
